On RSV vaccination in Lower Saxony

Dear patients,

Since August 2024, the Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) has recommended a one-time RSV vaccination for all people aged 75 and over. In addition, a one-time RSV vaccination is recommended for people aged 60 and over who suffer from a serious underlying illness or live in a care facility.

If you belong to this group of people, you are now entitled to a vaccination against the respiratory syncytial virus - RSV for short, covered by your health insurance, in accordance with the decision to include the RSV vaccination in the vaccination guideline of September 27th (see here in German).

Important: At present, the RSV vaccination in Lower Saxony is not yet regulated through consultation hours like other vaccinations. If you are interested, you will receive a private prescription for one of the 2 available vaccines and your health insurance company will reimburse the costs of the vaccine and vaccination service (see here in German).

If you decide to have such a vaccination or have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
